Last Friday I had surgery to remove three wisdom teeth. I was extremely worried about the surgery as one of my teeth was sitting on top of a nerve. One false move and I could have lost all feeling in my bottom lip. I don't know how that would have affected my trumpet playing, but it seems unlikely to have made things any easier…
It is now 3 days after surgery, and I'm happy to report that everything went as planned. I don't have any nerve damage at all!
I'm also pleased to report that the recovery isn't as bad as I had envisioned. Sure, there is some pain and general discomfort… but it's quite manageable with the help of over-the-counter pain medication. I think I might even be able to play the horn a little today.
