ATLANTA JAZZ INFORMATION

  • AtlantaJazz Yahoo Group - Many Atlanta jazz musicians (and some fans) are members of this Yahoo group. While it mostly serves as a vehicle to announce gigs, there are occasional discussions from which you can learn more about the Atlanta jazz scene and its musicians. If you're an Atlanta-area jazz musician, or if you're a serious jazz fan who wants to plug-in to the Atlanta jazz scene, you should DEFINITELY join this group.
  • Jazz Atlanta, GA - This site features the most comprehensive list of jazz musicians, jazz clubs, jazz events, and jazz radio in Atlanta. The list of gigs is routinely updated and appears to feature most (if not all) of the same gigs mentioned on the AtlantaJazz Yahoo group.
  • AtlantaJazz.info - This site has information about the Atlanta jazz scene including a fairly comprehensive calander of Atlanta jazz events and a list of Atlanta jazz clubs.

  • Jazzlanta - Atlanta freelance music writer, Jon Ross, interviews Atlanta jazz musicians and reviews Atlanta jazz concerts and CDs.

ATLANTA JAZZ ORGANIZATIONS

  • Southeastern Organization For Jazz Arts - The Southeastern Organization for Jazz Arts (SOJA) mission is to encourage the growth of jazz through educational programs and performance, focusing on its history and continued development. Visit their website to learn more about the organization and its Atlanta jazz concerts.
  • Music Integrity For Youth - Music Integrity for Youth is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide free or inexpensive private lessons and music workshops to children K-12 within the Metro-Atlanta area by utilizing the Global Music Community. The contributors include some of Atlanta's great jazz musicians such as Darryl Reeves, Russell Gunn, Nick Rosen, and Joel Powell.
  • Dunwoody Jazz Society - Similar to SOJA, the Dunwoody Jazz Society promotes jazz through home concerts and various venues in Dunwoody, GA. The Dunwoody Jazz Society also has a Meetup.com group where members plan group outings to jazz concerts all around the Atlanta area.

ATLANTA JAZZ RADIO

  • WCLK - Atlanta's main jazz radio station, 91.9 FM.
  • Atlanta JazzTones - This online radio show features interviews with a variety of Atlanta jazz musicians.
